Technical lead (optical systems engineer) for optical modules for future generation VR hardware. Design and specify visual modules to align with product requirements. Create module systems for complete non-sequential analysis in LightTools and to assess performance and integration capability of new subsystems. Specify production test equipment and requirements to meet production goals and standards. • Technical lead for virtual reality displays and virtual reality display development. • Responsible for all aspects of Oculus Rift CV1 display – including specification, documentation, qualification, lab testing, and production test. Worked with display and metrology vendors to meet critical requirements for the product and mass production. Performed extensive travel to vendor and contract manufacturer sites to bring display and optical module to realization in mass production. • Gather and distill product and cross-functional engineering requirements for displays. Integrate these requirements to design, specify and qualify new virtual reality displays for future generations of Oculus hardware. Work with industry leading display vendors to align roadmaps and downselect vendors for production. Transitioned display testing efforts to production test team. • Create novel VR display designs, systems, calibration and metrology techniques. Over 40 patent applications in various forms of filing. • Brought up multimillion-dollar optical lab from scratch to meet needs of display, viewing optics, and camera module metrology. Supervising lab manager and lab technician.
