About Evan Maslin

Evan Maslin is the District Director for U.S. Congressman Josh Riley, responsible for serving 11 counties across New York’s 19th Congressional District, which includes communities in the Southern Tier, Finger Lakes, and Hudson Valley. Evan was previously the Director of Economic Development for the Southern Tier 8 Regional Board, an Economic Development District of the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA) and Local Development District of the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC). He managed a program portfolio advancing regional economic and workforce development efforts, addressing infrastructure deficiencies, and accelerating private sector investment in energy storage, semiconductor, and advanced manufacturing supply chains.Evan served as the Deputy Regional Director for U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer, helping to create good-paying jobs, address infrastructure deficiencies, and build a robust economy across 10 counties. For instance, Senator Schumer delivered $63.7 million from the EDA, matched by $50 million from New York State, for Binghamton University’s New Energy New York, which is projected to create high-quality jobs, bolster cutting-edge energy storage research, and establish the region a preeminent hub for battery innovation. Since then, the Southern Tier was designated 1 of 31 Regional Technology and Innovation Hubs as well as 1 of 10 inaugural Regional Innovation Engines.Evan is an economic development and policy practitioner with in-depth knowledge of the legislative process, intergovernmental relations, and policy planning. His prior experience in government has instilled in him the importance of objective policy analysis, data-driven decision-making, and collaborative partnerships. As a Stanford University Innovation Fellow, Evan learned to approach complex problems with a design and systems thinking mindset, which he utilizes to generate evidence-based solutions to challenges in the local communities he serves.Evan graduated summa cum laude from the Hicks Honors College at the University of North Florida with bachelor\'s degrees in economics and international studies. He earned a M.A. in International Affairs Policy and Analysis from American University’s School of International Service in Washington, D.C. His research at the graduate level focused on political economy issues at the nexus of industrial policy, economic competitiveness, and national security. Evan will soon pursue PhD-level coursework in public policy, administration, leadership, and analysis.
