University Officer Training Corps (UOTC)The University Officer Training Corps (UOTC) is a British Army-sponsored leadership development programme for university students, offering unique opportunities to build confidence, resilience, and leadership skills in a challenging and rewarding environment.Through a mix of military training, adventure activities, and personal development exercises, members of the UOTC gain hands-on experience in leadership, teamwork, communication, and decision-making under pressure.Participation includes:Leadership and management training aligned with Army Officer standardsFieldcraft, navigation, and military skills developmentAdventure training (e.g, mountaineering, kayaking, and expeditions)Opportunities to earn recognised qualifications (e.g, leadership and first aid certificates)Involvement in community and charitable eventsThe UOTC equips students like me with transferable skills highly valued by employers, helping them stand out in competitive fields while offering an insight into military life and the values such as — courage, discipline, respect, integrity, loyalty, and selfless commitment.
