I work closely with clients to design and develop new products across industries such as outdoor, lifestyle, athletics, tactical (civilian and military), travel, and anything else that comes across our desk. Our department operates like a design studio, but has the additional resources to carry a project from the initial iterative stages all the way through development, sourcing, and production. This means I get the opportunity to have a hand in every step of the process from the first idea to landing at the fulfillment warehouse. Generally the projects I take on are about 90% soft goods (bags and gear) and 10% hard goods (accessories and hardware). Since every project is in a different phase in the project timeline, I spend my days working on each step of design (sketching on paper/adobe, market research, image rendering, prototyping, 3d modeling, etc.) and development (tech pack creation, material selection, sample review, color matching, etc.)An important part of my job is working hand in hand with clients to make their vision come to life. This requires keen technical know-how, but it also requires a level of social awareness to understand their constraints, needs, expectations, and pain points. My personal philosophy when entering a project is that every client has something unique and important to bring the world, and being a business owner or project leader can be vulnerable at times, so I feel it is of upmost importance to treat every project with care and respect throughout the process.
