ABOUT EVAN ANDERSON
Traditionally, I was trained in fine furniture making, designing, and restoring, at The Thomas Chippendale International School of Furniture in Gifford, Scotland. When the economy took a turn for the worse, I decided upon a career change. At the time, I was becoming significantly more aware and concerned about the state of the environment and our excessive energy use. After careful consideration and reflection, I decided to pursue a degree in energy efficiency engineering, and soon began re-inventing my professional life at Ecotech Institute in Denver, Colorado. While attending Ecotech, I made early contact with numerous professionals that were passionate about “re-modeling” the built environment; to lessen its toll on energy consumption, and the surrounding environment as a whole. These wonderful people inspired me and kindled my interest in all aspects of green-building, but nothing caught my interest quite as much as the German Passiv Haus method of construction. I soon began as a part-time quoter for Zola Windows while attending Ecotech Institute, and was often able to apply my schooling to work, and vice-versa; an ideal situation. My early work with Zola Windows, continued to fuel my interest for the Passiv Haus movement, and gave me a “front-and-center” standing to expand my knowledge for the key piece in Passiv Haus: high performance windows. After two years of grueling 18 and 19 hour days, and graduating with a 4.0 GPA, I advanced from a part-time window quoter, to a full-time Architectural Consultant and Project Manager with Zola Windows; extensively involved with (but certainly not limited to) our New York City projects. I work closely with CPHCs, architects, builders, and home owners from the earliest inquiries to final fit and finish of their 100% customized window and door package. While we specialize in high-performance windows for the Passive House standard, we offer windows for any type of construction, covering a wide range of budgets.
