About Eunice A Greer
As a senior research scientist at the Department of Education, I have almost 20 years of experience in designing and developing the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), the largest and most comprehensive measure of student achievement in the United States. I am passionate about improving the quality, validity, and applications of educational assessment and advancing the field of educational research and statistics in ways that make it more fair and equitable. My primary areas of expertise are reading and writing assessment and scoring. I collaborated in the transition of NAEP\'s Reading Assessment from a paper-and-pencil-based assessment to a digitally based assessment. This work involved learning and applying new methods and technologies for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting observable or process data. Most recently, we have been working to implement automated scoring into NAEP’s scoring and reporting processes. This work is supported by over ten years of research on the potential of automated scoring for NAEP and how best to use automated scoring to strengthen and enhance the program. I am happiest when we are innovating and exploring, and I am working on cutting-edge content!
