I am an experienced practitioner of AI, machine learning and data mining. I have in-depth understanding of AI/ML and have experience of successfully applying these technologies to solve real business problems. My expertise includes building a data science team, mentoring data scientists, identifying business problems that can be solved by AI/ML techniques, managing data science projects end-to-end, presenting data science works at internal/external venues and leading research collaboration with academics and other industry teams. At The Washington Post, I led a team to build an integrated Big Data platform to store all aspects of customer profiles and activities from both digital and print circulation, metadata of content, and business data. My team built AI/ML tools and services to utilize the integrated data from the platform to provide personalized contents and experience for users, provide complete and linked data for business analytics and reporting, increase profit for Digital Ad Ops, and help newsrooms and other business units to make data-driven decisions. At Persistent Systems, I led Big Data consulting projects by combining my analytics background with Big Data technologies. I started Machine Learning Group at Sears Holdings Online Business Unit and led several researchers and engineers for delivering analytical solutions for Data Quality, Search/Browse Optimization, Personalized Recommendations, Social Media Analysis, and Web Intelligence. Prior to Sears Holdings, I worked as a Senior Research Scientist for a data mining startup company delivering customized data mining solutions to companies and government agencies. My expertise includes AI, machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, and high-performance computing.
