About Eugene Izumo

I bring 20+ years of strategic advisory and business management experience, guiding clients through M&A and capital raising transactions totaling over $6 billion. After a decade on Wall Street working with some of the world’s largest PE and VC investors, I founded Akos Advisors to focus exclusively on serving founders and independent business owners. I’ve always been a champion of the underdog, and in M&A, the founders and independent business owners are the underdogs. They face buyers and investors who do deals for a living, who maximize returns by buying low and minimize risk with complex deal structures. That’s where Akos Advisors come in. We balance the scales, bringing Wall Street expertise to your side so you can approach every transaction with clarity and confidence- I began my career as a teacher in Los Angeles Unified, inspired by leaders like Jaime Escalante (“Stand and Deliver”) and the belief that education is the ultimate equalizer. Seeing firsthand the disparities in math preparation among our students, a colleague and I created an accelerated pre-algebra program (a textbook and DVD lessons)- years before Khan Academy - that was piloted in multiple schools. The experience taught me two things: 1. the power of business to scale impact, and 2. how quickly promising ideas can stall without the right business knowledge.
