About Eugene Choi

I am a Systems Engineer driven by the connective tissue between design intent and real-world hardware behavior. My background spans the full lifecycle of aerospace systems, from sizing liquid rocket engine combustion chambers at the USC Rocket Propulsion Lab (RPL) to supporting FAA-level certification for safety-critical flight systems at Skyryse. I thrive in environments where ambiguity is the norm and where the most valuable lessons are learned through hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and failure mode analysis.Currently, my work focuses on ensuring flight readiness through rigorous verification planning and technical risk mitigation. I specialize in translating complex requirements into executable test procedures, auditing multi-level BOMs for production accuracy, and coordinating across mechanical, electrical, and software teams to surface integration risks before they reach the pad.Beyond my industry roles, I lead a rookie FIRST Tech Challenge team as Head Coach. I approach this mentorship as a Lead Systems Engineer, guiding the team through the end-to-end I&T cycle for mobile robotics. Whether we are diagnosing electrical voltage sags, performing root cause analysis on mechanical gear failures, or integrating sensor suites for autonomous field-centric driving, I help the team bridge the gap between CAD and competition-ready hardware.Whether I’m reviewing test artifacts for autonomous flight systems or designing propulsion components, my goal is the same: to build robust, reliable systems that bridge the gap between theoretical modeling and mission success. I am always excited to connect with teams pushing the cutting-edge of technology that benefits all humanity, including the individual. I believe the best engineering happens when we stop treating technology as a tool for extraction and start treating it as a service to humanity. I’m not interested in the \"move fast and break things\" culture that prioritizes profit over people; I’m looking to contribute to missions where technical integrity is a moral imperative. I am eager to join teams building the infrastructure for the next era of space, teams that value the individual, speak the truth about their impact, and work to ensure that the cutting edge actually lifts us all up.
