WORK HISTORY
Account Director @Thrive
I work with organisations that already use Thrive and help them get real, ongoing value from it. My role sits somewhere between trusted partner, problem-solver and gentle agitator. I spend my time understanding what customers are trying to achieve, keeping their platform healthy, and making sure learning, comms and performance actually land in the business, not just look good on paper. That means planning renewals early (no last-minute panics), spotting risk before it becomes an issue, and finding the right moments to expand where it genuinely makes sense. I pull in the right people internally, use data to ground conversations, and try to keep things simple, honest and outcome-focused.In short: I help customers stay, succeed, and grow, without the fluff.

ABOUT EUGENE STEENKAMP
Most of my career has been spent working with enterprise customers where things are rarely simple and the margin for error is small. Over time I’ve found myself sitting at the intersection of product value and customer success, helping organisations make sure the technology they invest in actually delivers something meaningful for the business. Service delivery matters, relationships matter, and when something goes wrong you own the problem until it is resolved. These lessons are what shaped my career. For the past thirteen years I’ve been based in the UK working with global organisations across SaaS platforms, DevOps environments and digital learning technologies. Across Customer Success, strategic account and commercial roles, the common thread has always been understanding what the customer is actually trying to achieve and making sure the product plays a meaningful role in helping them get there. One thing I care deeply about is getting the basics right. Clear communication. Strong stakeholder relationships. Structured follow-up. Proper governance. Too often organisations try to elevate Customer Success with new frameworks and terminology without first getting those fundamentals in place. When the basics are right, everything else tends to fall into place, adoption improves, trust builds and the relationship becomes a genuine partnership rather than just a vendor arrangement. I enjoy working with people who take pride in doing things properly and who care about the outcome for the customer, not just the process.
