About Eugene Spiro
Gene Spiro has over 25 years of international development experience designing, managing, and evaluating projects and programs with focus on private sector development, support for enterprises, corporate governance, and civil society capacity building. Gene has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Bay Atlantic University in Washington, D.C. and visiting Professor at Corvinus University in Budapest. Recent activities include serving as Acceleration Director at USAID’s Partnerships Incubator (New Partnerships Initiative) overseeing capacity strengthening programs for USAID partner organizations; for UNDP and the Islamic Development Bank, preparing an assessment of Malaysia\'s program to build resilience of micro, small- and medium-sized enterprises; also with UNDP, designing and delivering a capacity-strengthening program for Haitian ministries and government agencies to mainstream gender-sensitive budgeting; and leading a corporate governance technical assistance program in Southeast Asia for the International Fiinance Corporaation. As an Adjunct Professor at Bay Atlantic University, Gene has taught graduate and undergraduate-level courses on Economics of International Development; International Organizations; Non-Profit Management; International Trade; and Globalization and the World Economy. Gene holds a Master of Arts Degree in International Economics and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Studies from the American University in Washington, D.C. He is fluent in French and Hungarian and currently resides in Budapest, Hungary.
