ABOUT ETHAN LIN
Attending public school for 13 years, Ethan has seen how education can both empower and disempower students. Through his time balancing professional gaming with school, he formed special bonds with his teachers. This experience fostered his interest in pursuing public service work to inspirit individuals who often feel disillusioned by public institutions.Ethan is a third-year at Amherst College majoring in Law, Jurisprudence, and Social Thought. He plans to become a public defender or work at the intersection of law and the public education system.He has had extensive research experience on “humanizing education,” all with a focus on impact and advocacy for marginalized communities. Viewing stories that showcase our shared humanity as fundamental to society, he works to foster a better understanding of the people of the past, present, and future.On Amherst campus, he is part of the Racial History Project to reflect, repair, and research narratives often excluded or misrepresented in history. More recently, he was at Yale University to collaborate with public teachers on refining their approach to teaching slavery to their students.
