ABOUT ETHAN ROMER

Previously served as the President at The Union @ MMU where I held a role as a Trustee Board Member and Governor for the University. I actively contributed to fostering a vibrant campus culture, advocating for student welfare and engaging in strategic decision-making, governance oversight and policy development. Additionally, as a member of the Greater Manchester Student Partnership (GMSP), I worked tirelessly to enhance student life and well-being across the region, advocating for policies and initiatives that prioritise student interests and foster a supportive and inclusive community with the primary objective of making Manchester the best city for students to live in within England.A graduate in BSc (Hons) Zoology with an integrated placement year graded 2:1 from Manchester Metropolitan University. Pursuing a degree in Zoology was heavily influenced by my interests in Animal Conservation and Ecology, and my volunteer work at the world-famous Care For Wild Rhino Sanctuary in South Africa. My academic pursuits and volunteer work converge to fuel my commitment to environmental stewardship and advocacy. My integrated placement year saw me working within the largest diagnostic laboratory network in the United Kingdom, Lighthouse Labs, leading the nation\'s efforts against the global COVID-19 Pandemic.Beyond my academic and governance roles, I am a fervent advocate for Esports, particularly at the university level because of its potential to foster community, skill development, and teamwork. Having chaired the Esports Society at MMU, I was responsible for organizing tournaments, workshops, and events aimed at cultivating a vibrant Esports community within MMU and Manchester.
