About Ethan Sahudin
My name is Ethan Sahudin, and I am a 1L JD Candidate at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. I earned my BSBA in Finance and Banking with a minor in Economics from the University of Missouri, where I built a strong foundation in financial analysis, corporate finance, and investment strategies. My undergraduate coursework gave me a deep understanding of financial markets and institutions, as well as the regulatory landscape governing financial transactions and compliance. In addition to my academic foundation, I have significant professional experience in financial regulatory and compliance roles. At Stifel Financial Corp, I worked closely with compliance teams to ensure adherence to SEC and FINRA regulations, gaining hands-on experience in reviewing broker activity and ensuring compliance with internal controls. I developed a strong attention to detail and a disciplined approach to risk management, as well as familiarity with the operational functions of financial institutions and regulatory bodies. This experience enhanced my ability to analyze regulatory frameworks and identify potential compliance risks, sharpening my critical thinking and problem-solving skills in high-pressure environments. My minor in Economics provided additional insight into the principles of micro and macroeconomics, giving me a broader perspective on how economic policy and market forces impact financial decision-making. This interdisciplinary perspective has strengthened my analytical reasoning and strategic thinking skills. Through work in the service industry and volunteer experiences, I have also developed strong interpersonal and communication skills. These roles helped me learn how to build rapport with diverse stakeholders, navigate complex situations, and resolve conflicts—skills that are critical to a successful legal practice. Pursuing a legal education was a natural progression given my regulatory and compliance background. I am excited to bring my analytical acumen and financial experience to the legal field, with a strong interest in corporate, financial regulatory, or compliance law. I look forward to leveraging my experience to help clients navigate legal complexities and make informed, strategic decisions.
