About Ethan Quaranta

I am a young queer politico who grew up with a young single mom and experienced poverty through the first half of my childhood. I was even bullied for my visibly different class standing when I moved to Palo Alto when my mom got a good paying medical field job which broke us out of poverty. Witnessing the powerful effects of higher education during my formative early years has no doubt left an indelible mark on me. I am a strategic and compassionate communicator with experience in university student government along with climate justice movement and political organizing at varying levels of governance who led the CSU and CSUMB to divest from fossil fuels, improved the human and justice lens of the CSU Sustainability Policy, served as the main student voice on the CSUMB Inclusive Sustainability Plan as well as Wave Shuttle Program, advocated for legislative fixes with regards to higher education scholarship displacement and mandated new student orientation on CalFresh, oversaw 13 endorsements for the 2022 election with 61.5% win rate which included serving on now Assemblymember Pellerin’s campaign team, and more. I am particularly interested in the issue areas of environment, higher education, and civic engagement. I currently serve as Sierra Club Ventana Chapter Executive Committee Member.I am committed to improving youth engagement in politics through breaking down cultural and structural barriers in large part due to my own experiences. I have been engaged in training and mentorship in climate/political organizing in both formal and informal manners which empowers me to be an effective mentor.
