ABOUT ETHAN POWELL

What’s up! I’m Ethan, a student and leader at Queen’s University, pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering.I’m committed to learning every day and helping others feel confident doing the same.First year, I jumped in as a section rep and project coordinator, picked up the basics of effective communication and advocating for others, and tinkered on personal builds like an autonomous air-freshening drone. I also started making videos because explaining ideas is half the fun.Second year, I leveled up as Director of External Relations for the Queen’s Engineering Society. That meant running outreach, building partnerships with provincial and national orgs, and learning how to read the room, settle conflicts, and make calls that help students. It taught me to be articulate, supportive, and reliable.Last summer I went deep on the technical side. I built a Unity-based autonomous vehicle simulator and a Python control interface. Then I filmed walkthroughs and wrote lab guides to make the “why” as clear as the “how.” The goal was simple: give students tools they can use to learn and innovate autonomous vehicle research.Now I’m Co-President of Engineers of Tomorrow (Queen’s Chapter), working to inspire the next generation of engineers, and the Simulations Lead for aQuatonomous, our autonomous surface vessel design team. I’m doubling down on what I care about most: helping people learn and get inspired, while sharpening my own chops on real engineering problems. I\'m also continuing to fulfill my desire to create through my personal productions on my Instagram @itsethanpowell and as a producer for Queen’s Players (Theatre, music, sketch comedy club for charity).
