ABOUT ETHAN HALM
I build programs to improve the health of populations. In my current academic role, I am the inaugural Vice Chancellor for Population Health at Rutgers Health focused on advancing Population Health initiatives in research, education, and clinical care across Rutgers schools of medicine, pharmacy, nursing, dentistry, health professions, public health, and graduate studies, and our affiliated clinical partners. I also serve as the Deputy Chief Population Health Officer in the RWJBarnabas Health, a 12 hospital regional healthcare network that is the leading academic health system in NJ. I am an experienced clinical and scientific leader and accomplished researcher and mentor who co-leads the Learning Health Systems Scientist Training & Research Center of NJ. My research focuses on: 1) understanding patient, provider, and system factors that influence the quality, safety, outcomes, efficiency, equity, and patient-centeredness of care; 2) implementing and evaluating interventions to improve population health and health equity; and 3) using predictive analytic techniques to identify and reduce the risk of adverse outcomes. My work has been funded by the NIH, AHRQ, RWJ Foundation, and many other national and state entities.
