About Ethan Payne
As a computer science major at the University of Texas at Dallas, I am passionate about applying my skills and knowledge to create innovative and impactful solutions for real-world problems. I have a strong foundation in object-oriented programming languages, such as C++, Java, Python, and C#, as well as experience with cloud computing platforms, such as Amazon Web Service and Azure DevOps.In the summer of 2022, I had the opportunity to work as a software engineer intern at Tech For Good Inc, a nonprofit organization that develops open-source software to provide affordable internet access to rural communities in Nigeria. I was involved in the design, development, and deployment of Project Mission Uplink, a multi-layer caching system that reduced data consumption by redirecting traffic to Linux based proxy servers. I contributed to the optimization, testing, and documentation of the system, as well as collaborating with a diverse and cross-functional team of engineers, designers, and project managers. Through this experience, I learned how to apply agile methodologies, work with web delivery technologies, such as Squid Web Delivery, and use data analysis and visualization tools, such as Tableau and Power BI, to measure the impact and performance of the system. I also gained valuable insights into the social and ethical implications of using technology for good, and the challenges and opportunities of working in a global and remote setting.
