I am currently working as an Assistant Psychologist within Cygnet Health Care across multiple specialist services, supporting individuals with complex and acute mental health needs. My experience includes working on a male Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), a high-dependency rehabilitation unit for men, and a bespoke complex care ward supporting a female service user under long-term segregation with significant comorbidities.Across these settings, I work with individuals presenting with severe and enduring mental illness, complex trauma histories, and high levels of risk. My role involves conducting psychological assessments, contributing to psychological formulation and care planning, and supporting the delivery of psychologically informed interventions. I draw on a range of models, including CBT, DBT, Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) and the Power Threat Meaning Framework (PTMF) to support trauma-informed, formulation-driven care that prioritises understanding, empowerment, and recovery.I regularly contribute to case presentations and multidisciplinary discussions, using formulation to support shared understanding of risk, behaviour, and need. I have also been involved in delivering trauma-informed training within services, helping staff to work more reflectively and compassionately with individuals with complex presentations.I completed an MSc in Clinical Forensic Psychology with Distinction at King’s College London, alongside a BSc in Psychology (Upper Second-Class Honours), which included a year abroad at the University of Michigan. My academic training strengthened my interest in the intersection between mental health, trauma, and offending behaviour, and continues to inform my clinical work.Before my Assistant Psychologist roles, I gained over two years of experience as a Learning Disability Support Worker, working with children and adults with autism, learning disabilities, and complex needs. This developed my skills in positive behavioural support, adaptive communication, and person-centred care, which remain central to my practice.I am committed to working trauma-informed, reflective, and ethically, and to continuing to develop my clinical and formulation skills with vulnerable populations within mental health and forensic settings.
