About Eswar Bala

My career started with writing multimedia players and servers to working on networking protocols and evolved into building one of the earliest container orchestration systems before Kubernetes existed. That technical foundation is what makes me a different kind of executive. I understand the work deeply enough to earn engineers\' trust, set the right technical direction, and know when a product idea is truly differentiated versus incrementally better. That instinct is what led me to pitch Amazon EKS to Andy Jassy in 2017, build the team from zero, and launch the product that became the Kubernetes platform trusted by world’s most demanding workload. Today I own the business, engineering, and product strategy for AWS Container Services including EKS, ECS, ECR, Batch, BottleRocket, Finch, and Beanstalk. The platform where the world\'s most powerful AI models are trained and served. AWS\'s next-generation inference engine for Amazon Bedrock runs on the infrastructure my organization operates.I\'ve been fortunate to do this three times - spot an opportunity early, build the team, and ship the product before the market caught up.    As the business and engineering owner of AWS Container Services, I drive the strategy, product direction, and execution for the platform where the world\'s most powerful AI models are built, trained, and served at scale.AWS\'s next-generation inference engine for Amazon Bedrock, one of the largest-scale distributed AI systems in the work, runs on the infrastructure my organization builds and operates. From training frontier models to serving them at global scale, my platform sits at every critical layer of the AI stack.Services I lead:1) Amazon EKS — AWS\'s managed Kubernetes service, managing over 1 million clusters annually and the infrastructure backbone for large-scale AI model training and inference for leading foundation model builders globally.2) Amazon ECS & AWS Fargate — AWS\'s fully managed container orchestration service operating at extraordinary scale. Over 2 billion containers are launched on ECS every week, making it one of the most trusted platforms for deploying cloud-native and AI-powered applications.3) Amazon ECR — With over 70 billion container image pulls per month, one of the highest-throughput software distribution systems ever built. The trusted registry at the heart of the AI software supply chain.4) AWS Batch — Purpose-built for large-scale distributed computing, enabling customers to run massively distributed scientific computing, simulation, and data processing jobs efficiently across AWS.5) Agentic AI & MCP — In 2025, pioneered fully managed MCP servers for EKS and ECS giving AI coding assistants real-time contextual knowledge of live cloud environments. Launched the AWS DevOps Agent for incident response and operational excellence, and deployed an internal operational agent to drive AIOps transformation within the organization.
