Girls Forward Foundation* is Canada\'s leading organization dedicated to empowering girls through sport and physical activity. Through partnerships with local organizations and our extensive network of Real Role Models, we design and deliver programs that reflect and celebrate communities nationwide. Our events and programs blend physical activity with mentorship and skill development to create communities that empower participants to discover their strength through movement. From as young as five until early adulthood, our programs provide structured leadership development that creates pathways for continued engagement and growth.As Executive Director, I lead the organization’s strategic direction and day-to-day operations. I oversee national programming, fundraising, partnerships, and staff management, while championing our mission and vision. Since stepping into leadership, I have guided the organization’s transformation toward greater inclusion and accessibility, broadening our reach to ensure every girl in Canada sees herself reflected in our work. I have prioritized reducing barriers to participation, building partnerships with community-based organizations, and embedding equity at the core of everything we do.I recently led our national rebrand, uniting our community under a bold new identity that reflects who we are today: a modern, inclusive, and girl-centred charity. I also represent Girls Forward as a speaker and thought leader in gender equity in sport and physical activity.As a leader, I believe in operating at every level - whether it’s folding t-shirts at a program, working alongside our Role Models and youth leaders, or representing our organization in boardrooms and national conversations. I\'ve spent nearly two decades working in sport and physical activity as an coach, researcher, and programmer across grassroots, post-secondary, non-profit, and charitable sectors. With a Master\'s in Exercise Science focused on the experiences of racialized women in sport and physical activity, I bring an intersectional feminist lens to everything I do.I’m passionate about reducing barriers to accessing high-quality sport and physical activity experiences. I believe in centering community voices and working collaboratively to build evidence-informed programs that create safer, more inclusive, welcoming opportunities for girls and equity-denied communities. I believe in the power of movement to drive equity and belonging.Alongside my program and research experience, I’ve led small but mighty teams, facilitated workshops and national programs, and spoken publicly on issues at the intersection of sport, gender, and equity. I’m equally comfortable building strategy as I am managing budgets, leading evaluation efforts, and translating research into action. My work blends big-picture thinking with on-the-ground impact.I’m the proud daughter of Guatemalan immigrants, something I name with intention because I bring my whole self into everything I do. My identity shapes how I lead, connect, and collaborate, and I’m deeply committed to working with partners and individuals who value authenticity, equity, and shared purpose.
