ABOUT ESTHER VENNING

I am a partner and lead our Leeds & Newcastle health commercial and regulatory team, advising health and care clients on a broad range of complex commercial, contractual and governance issues. I aim to work in close partnership with my clients as an integral part of their team, to help them achieve their strategic objectives. I am currently working at the forefront of developments related to the Health and Care Act 2022. This includes work with many systems, at both Integrated Care System and Place level and with provider collaboratives and Trusts, to help develop new ways of working, together with our Hill Dickinson consultant specialists in collaborative leadership and organisational development. With particular expertise in developing novel collaborative arrangements, I advise on shared services arrangements, alliance contracting and section 75 agreements, and pathology and other service collaborations. I have also led on the development of complex contractual arrangements for several nationally commissioned services. Over the last year or so, I have helped my clients deliver a number of urgent, high profile projects relating to the Covid-19 pandemic, including extensive work co-ordinating our wider teams’ input. Some examples of my experience include:• Working with senior health and care leaders at ICS and Place level, and with provider collaboratives, to develop governance and contracting models for integration. Examples include Collaborative Newcastle, St Helens Cares, Rotherham Place Partnership and West Yorkshire Integrated Care System. • Leading on a wide range of high profile projects relating to the Covid-19 pandemic including two Nightingale Hospitals, the Integrated Covid Hub North East and other Lighthouse Laboratory arrangements. • Working with a national NHS body to develop a model for specialised mental health services provider collaboratives.• Developing pathology collaborations.• Advising on an innovative partnership agreement between an NHS foundation trust and a private provider of radiotherapy services.• NHS mergers / acquisitions.• Complex procurements of high value, nationally commissioned services including drafting complex contractual documentation and advising on transition arrangements. • Complex energy projects for NHS trusts.
