ABOUT ESSYE B. MILLER
As a global, former CIO and CISO for the DoD and current strategic Board Advisor to Fortune 500 industry leaders Dell, T-Mobile, Trellix, and Leidos, I have been at the forefront of shaping global security strategy, digital resilience, and technology infrastructure across 150+ countries in NA, APAC, LATAM, EMEA, and Oceania. To the boardrooms of pre-IPO and Fortune 100/500 public companies, I provide insights from 35+ years of governance in executive roles across the DoD, US Army, and US Air Force, with the expertise fusing NextGen technology and advanced intelligence to deliver strategies that proactively identify vulnerabilities, mitigate security risk, and enable growth. As an executive at the Department of Defense, I provided strategic governance, leading the agency’s strategy for the $49B IT arm of the DoD, and establishing the Cloud Computing Office – touching over 2M+ people. In addition to influencing the DoD’s overall $700B technology direction, I advised the Secretary of Defense as Principal Advisor on critical issues of IT, cyber, and non-intelligence space/satellite programs. As CISO, I led the DoD’s $8B Cybersecurity Program including coordinating defense-wide cybersecurity across federal agencies, private-sector defense organizations, and international coalition partners.Currently, I provide insights on cybersecurity, information management, IT, digital resiliency, information assurance, and risk mitigation as Board Advisor to Dell, Trellix, T-Mobile, Millennium Corporation, Leidos and strategic advisor for Rebellion Defense and Pallas Advisors. Leveraging my global network of highly specialized partnerships in both government and industry, I advise corporations on expanding into the public sector, the federal/government market, their product portfolios, GTM strategies, and strategic direction for the executive teams. Keeping a step in both corporate and government, I advise the Information Security and Privacy Advisory Board, the Department of Commerce, and NGOs. Prior to the DoD, I led cybersecurity and IT strategy for the US Army, supporting 1.3M personnel, as well as the US Air Force’s Headquarters (HAF) IT enterprise strategy. Passionate about giving back I have been a Keynote Speaker for Women in Federal IT and Cybersecurity Conference at CIO’s Council; and Cyber Education, Research and Training Symposium at AFCEA International. I have published in Inc. Magazine, and others, and been named Top Women in IT (FedScoop) and Top Women in Cybersecurity (CyberScoop). Regular guest lecturer at Trinity University in Washington, DC
