ABOUT ESMERALDA SALGADO

I currently work as Head of MFL in a comprehensive school. I am a 2022 Silver Winner in the Pearsons National Teaching Awards, under the category of Teacher of the Year in a Secondary School and a former Digital Lead with over 20 years of experience in the classroom in both, state and private schools. My goal is to develop motivated speakers and increase uptake in MFL via the use of simple but impactful digital tools in a blended learning environment, where possible. I have taught languages for 20 years from KS2 to KS5. I am passionate about the use of digital tools and collaborative projects among schools and Lead Practitioner, Digital lead and Head of MFL in a comprehensive school, Princes Risborough School, part of Insignis Trust. I have led several Erasmus projects in the past, in order to enhance the teaching and learning experience in the MFL classroom of ALL students, regardless their ability and background! Over the last seven years I have spoken in many languages and educational events and conferences, such as Languages World, the Language Show, the Festival of Education and I have carried out workshops for ALL, Linguascope, Languagenut, ISMLA, the British Council, the Spanish Embassy, SALT or TMIcons, to which I belong as member of the organisational team for the MFL branch.
