About Emily S. Heller

Hello! I am a recent Biotechnology M.S. graduate from Northeastern University with hands-on experience in immunology and in-vitro assay development actively seeking a full-time Research Associate or Associate Scientist role where I can contribute strong experimental skills, data analysis, & a collaborative mindset to research teams in a fast-paced industry environment. My interest in immunology has been shaped by academic training and industry experience across large pharma and biotech. I supported vaccine R&D and data analytics efforts through internships at Pfizer and Takeda and expanded my industry research experience during my co-op at Kymera Therapeutics. At Kymera, I worked in a collaborative drug discovery setting, contributing to in-vitro assay development & execution, data analysis, and cross-functional research efforts supporting immunology-focused therapeutic programs. This experience strengthened my ability to generate high-quality data and contribute effectively in a team-driven research environment. This experience also allowed me to learn and strengthen my technical skills including primary and mammalian cell culture, MSD and ELISA, multicolor flow cytometry, immunofluorescence imaging, and data analysis using graphpad prism and flowjo software.In May of 2023, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Stony Brook University with departmental Honors in Biology, a minor in Chemistry, Women in Science and Engineering Honors, and the University Outstanding Achievement Award in Interdisciplinary Biology. As part of the Biology Honors, I completed an undergraduate honors thesis in Dr. Patrick Hearing’s lab, titled “Exploring the role of the DNA-damage response in persistent adenovirus infection”. During my time in Dr. Hearing’s lab, I investigated multiple proteins involved in the DNA-damage response in persistent infection condition vs. acute infection in vitro. In this role, I worked in BSL-2 conditions to perform routine mammalian cell culture, adenovirus infection of human diploid fibroblast cells, immunostaining, qPCR, and fluorescent microscopy.I look forward to applying immunology expertise, hands-on experimental skills, and a collaborative approach to advance innovative therapeutic discoveries in the biopharma industry.
