About Esees K. Komal
Esees Kaur Komal is a second-year (junior standing) student at Barnard College, Columbia University, where she is pursuing studies in political science and economics. Prior to this, she attended George Washington University, where she focused on international affairs. Additionally, she served as a visiting scholar at Georgetown University, conducting research on South Asia. She has guest-spoken for Fridays For Future, an international climate movement started by Greta Thunberg, the Parliament of World Religions, and many other organizations. She has advocated extensively for the repeal of the three unconstitutionally passed Indian agricultural bills and has hosted two global workshops. She was also named one of the two Illinois delegates for the prestigious United States Senate Youth Program (2022). Esees believes that to ameliorate topical issues, we must first educate ourselves and then work alongside policymakers to create long-term change. Utilizing this philosophy, Esees has worked with her congressman and political groups to push for policy-based change. In 2021, a bill she both initiated the push for and advocated for since her eighth-grade year was passed, making Illinois the fifth state to ban the selling of puppy mill animals! She is always searching for opportunities in law, politics, and finance. She welcomes all invitations to speak at climate and social justice events!
