About Eryn Scally
I’ve been building things for as long as I can remember.Over time that curiosity has carried me across industries from fashion and manufacturing to brand and enterprise fintech. Along the way it shaped how I think about design: not simply as craft, but as the thoughtful shaping of systems, products, and experiences that people rely on every day. These days I spend much of my time untangling extraordinarily complex experiences for people managing extraordinarily large amounts of money. When the stakes are measured in trillions and there’s little room for “we’ll fix it in Post-MVP,” design becomes less about aesthetics and more about clarity, trust, and responsibility. The mediums change, but the curiosity remains the same: how things are made, how they work, and how they might work better for people.AI has opened an entirely new frontier in how I imagine and make things. These tools have automated the tedious, accelerated the exploratory, and given me back the rarest resource in design: time to actually think! What excites me most is where this is heading. Our design experience is transforming from static screens into adaptive, intelligent systems. Reshaping everything from interaction design and information architecture to the design systems and intelligent agents that sit beneath them. And this changes everything about what a designer can be!That excitement eventually pulled me deeper into the mechanics of how digital products are actually built at the intersection of design, product, and engineering. I\'m after the trifecta. The kind of designer who makes the combination of all three domains their unfair advantage. And that perspective shapes everything about how I work today. So, I’m deepening that perspective by studying product management and developing a fluency in lightweight coding to help me move ideas from concept toward reality in an AI first world. My design education was broad, a little unconventional, and deeply rooted in craft. The kind that teaches you to think across materials, systems, and human behavior all at once. That intersection continues to guide how I approach every problem.I’ve always been drawn to the outliers. The designers, inventors, and tinkerers who connected dots nobody else thought to connect. The ones who understood that imagination and practicality are not opposites, but partners. The future belongs to the tinkerers. The ones who stay curious, forget their lane, and build something nobody has a word for yet.
Experience
Senior User Experience Designer
May 2023 — Present · New York, NY, US
At U.S. Bank, I\'m part of the team transforming the design and experience across an institutional platform that touches custody, trading, document management, and investment workflows for some of the largest financial clients in the world. • Actively partnering with internal AI teams to shape what production-ready AI design tools look like for designers in regulated environments. Exploring prompting strategies, agent-driven workflows, and what responsible AI adoption actually means inside a major financial institution• Integrating M365 CoPilot and Figma AI into daily workflows to accelerate research synthesis, system understanding, and early-stage prototyping while maintaining standards for quality, accessibility, and compliance every step of the way• Pioneering design system adoption and information architecture standards across a legacy enterprise platform. Influencing and converting skeptics into allies until design governance became the default, not the exception I’m learning how to scale design inside a large financial institution by bringing AI tools, design systems, and product thinking to the wonderfully complex world of enterprise finance.
