The Doors Project is a series of site-specific performances, actions and installations in doorways around the world. Doors are important metaphors. What connects all the very different doorway and threshold performances my collaborators and I have been creating is an attention to transitions: those curveballs life throws you, and what’s revealed in that crucial \'doorway moment\' of the way that you deal with it. We\'ve been looking at different kinds of \"doorway moments\": political, ecological, economic, intimate. With The Doors Project, my collaborators and I investigate the hyper-specific, place-related, identity-imprinting details and history that a particular door can bring out.Over the course of several years, we\'ll bring together photographs from our performances into a coffee table book of doorways around the world, and edit our footage into a short film.© Eryn Rosenthal, 2011-12.
