ABOUT ERWIN GROSS

Dr-Ing. Erwin Gross completed his doctorate at the Institute for Industrial Manufacturing and Factory Operation (IFF) at the University of Stuttgart. During his four years as a research assistant, he was responsible for the aIE Learning Factory. Afterwards, he supported the management of the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA) as an assistant for three years. Since 2021, Dr-Ing. Erwin Gross has led the Digitalisation Strategies and Technology Management research group, which focuses on strategic issues relating to platform-based value creation in production. The focus is on IIoT platforms and smart services for production and product development. From 2022 to 2024, Dr-Ing. Erwin Gross was part of the management team of the High-Performance Center Mass Personalisation (LZMP) in Stuttgart, a joint initiative of the Stuttgart-based Fraunhofer Institutes IAO, IBP, IGB and IPA and the University of Stuttgart. Since October 2024, he has also been a lecturer in production engineering at Pforzheim University of Applied Sciences-Dr-Ing. Erwin Gross promovierte am Institut für Industrielle Fertigung und Fabrikbetrieb (IFF) der Universität Stuttgart. Während seiner vierjährigen Tätigkeit als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter war er für die Lernfabrik aIE verantwortlich. Anschließend unterstützte er für drei Jahre als Assistent die Institutsleitung am Fraunhofer-Institut für Produktionstechnik und Automatisierung (IPA). Seit 2021 leitet Dr-Ing. Gross die Forschungsgruppe Digitalisierungsstrategien und Technologiemanagement, die sich mit strategischen Fragestellungen zur plattformbasierten Wertschöpfung in der Produktion beschäftigt. Im Fokus stehen dabei IIoT-Plattformen und Smart Services für die Produktion sowie die Produktentwicklung. Von 2022 bis 2024 gehörte Dr-Ing. Gross zum Leitungsteam des Leistungszentrums Mass Personalization (LZMP) in Stuttgart, einer gemeinsamen Initiative der Stuttgarter Fraunhofer-Institute IAO, IBP, IGB und IPA sowie der Universität Stuttgart. Seit Oktober 2024 hat er zudem eine Lehrtätigkeit im Fach Produktionstechnik an der Hochschule Pforzheim inne.
