ABOUT MED. SARA ERSÖZLÜ
Physician-Scientist, Cardiac Imaging Researcher at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Board-certified cardiologist (Switzerland, UK) and internist (Switzerland). Previously, Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program of the University Hospital Zurich, Switzerland (80 residents). My expertise encompasses Echocardiography, Cardiac MRI, CT, SPECT, PET, as well as hybrid imaging techniques including PET/MR, PET/CT, and SPECT/CT.I serve on multiple Editorial Boards or Cardiac Imaging Journals and Editorial Lead of the JACC Journals Digital Media Creator Program. I am a member of the Education Committee and the Residents and Fellow Leaders Committee (2024–2027) of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT), and the Working Group on Myocardial and Pericardial Diseases of the European Society of Cardiology. Within MGB, I serve as a Co-Chair of the Internal Medical Graduates Committee of the MGB Postdoc Association.I earned my medical degree and completed my dissertation (Dr.med.) at the Charité Medical School in Berlin, Germany. During this time, I was a scholarship recipient of the German National Merit Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes), which fostered my early commitment to academic excellence. Clinically, I am skilled in caring for both in- and outpatient populations, particularly those with multimorbidity and complex multisystem diseases. My subspecialty expertise lies in rare genetic diseases with significant cardiac manifestations, especially storage disorders such as Fabry disease, amyloidosis, and hemochromatosis.My background also includes a solid foundation in basic experimental research, having completed my dissertation in neuroembryological basic research. This work complements my current focus on applied clinical research, with the goal of advancing cardiac care in both rare diseases and common cardiovascular conditions.
