ABOUT ERNIE WONG

I am a consultant respiratory physician with specialist interest in asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). My NHS practice is based at St Mary’s and Hammersmith Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, where I am the clinical lead for asthma. I am an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London. I hold a PhD investigating the role of the airway microbiome in asthma exacerbation. My current research collaborations include the use of an AI chatbot in optimising asthma control, the impact of air pollution in asthma and the role of hormones in asthma.In addition to leading the severe asthma service, I also run general respiratory clinics and acute medical on-calls, reviewing a broad range of respiratory and medical conditions. I have expertise in managing COVID/ Post-COVID and made a number of national TV appearances including the BBC documentary \'Your Body Uncovered\'.My private practice is based at One Welbeck Lung
