ABOUT ERNESTO ARJONA

I have over 27 years of experience in manufacturing. After completing my BS degree in chemical engineering at Purdue University, I started my career as a manufacturing engineer, solving daily problems while on the floor and improving operations. As an engineer, I was exposed to multiple mechanical and electrical systems, in addition to lean manufacturing. At this point, I started noticing that fixing processes and equipment may not always be the only key to improved productivity. Effective communication between team members, motivated employees, and a sense of accountability in the presence of management support are also vital for the success of any project. After showing some positive results when leading multiple cross-functional teams, I assumed the position of engineering manager, which gave me the opportunity to coach technical staff in different business objectives. When I started to feel that I had mastered the technical aspects of manufacturing processes, I became interested in furthering my general knowledge about manufacturing. As an operations manager, I was able to combine my technical process knowledge with my passion for working with people. I became responsible for managing large departments such as production, maintenance, material-handling, engineering, continuous improvement. Recently, I was promoted to a general management position, which is allowing me to learn more about the financial aspects of the business and combining it with my previous knowledge and expertise on manufacturing and people management skills.
