About Ernest Boamah

I am a translational scientist and clinical biomarker strategist with over 15 years of experience in oncology research and drug development. Born in Ghana and raised in the United States, I earned my Ph.D. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from the City University of New York and continued my research at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, supported by NIH fellowships (F32, T32).My academic journey began with research on cell death mechanisms driven by the DNA crosslinking agents mitomycin and its derivative, decarbamoyl mitomycin C. Building on my earlier work, my postdoctoral training centered on the role of PARP-1 in nucleolar development, using Drosophila as a experimental model. This scientific foundation evolved into a dynamic career in the pharmaceutical industry, where I have led biomarker operations and translational research programs at organizations including Janssen, Celgene (now BMS), Cellectis, and most recently, as Director of Laboratory Services at Mursi Biosciences.My expertise spans early-phase clinical development, biomarker strategy, vendor and data management, and cross-functional leadership. I’ve contributed to the development of autologous and allogeneic CAR-T therapies, small molecule inhibitors, and immunomodulatory agents in hematologic malignancies and solid tumors, with a focus on patient stratification and accelerating therapeutic pipelines.Beyond science, I am passionate about expanding clinical research infrastructure in Africa and fostering collaborations that bridge global innovation with local impact. As a lab director, I am currently leading efforts to scale diagnostic and clinical trial services across the continent. I also serve on the Innovation Advisory Board at GxP Training, a leading certified online course provider for life sciences professionals.I thrive at the intersection of science, strategy, and execution, and remain committed to advancing precision medicine through thoughtful collaboration and rigorous inquiry.
