Responsible for library outreach services, public education activities, and the promotion of library services. Including developing needs assessments and coordinating, planning, and marketing for the Braille and Talking Book Library under the general direction of the Library Director.• Assists with inter-agency communications, public relations activities directed to patrons and potential patrons of the Library, event planning, production, and dissemination of patron publications.• Works to develop cooperative relationships with groups, individual professionals, and institutions serving people with vision impairments and other disabilities, along with the target population and their caregivers.• Works collaboratively to set programmatic and operational goals for the Library Outreach Program that reflect the Library’s plans to extend marketing and outreach beyond the known disability constituencies, including but not limited to public libraries, elder and disability service organizations, schools, medical facilities, assisted living centers, and veterans’ groups.• Develops and implements the library outreach program plan, establishing the means for evaluating program effectiveness and reporting the progress on a quarterly basis. Recommends improvements to enhance program activities.• Develops and conducts research and analysis of current & potential patrons, identifies services that are currently used or needed, and makes recommendations on best practices for conducting outreach in libraries and other fields.
