About Erin Eckert
No one should die from a preventable and treatable disease like malaria. I’ve dedicated my career to this belief, combining my background in infectious disease epidemiology with a passion for turning science into action. My work has centered on chemoprevention, disease diagnostics and treatment, and improving surveillance and evaluation metrics. Whether you\'re curious about how better diagnostics can make an impact or the most effective ways to deliver drug-based prevention, I can help. I’ve also applied my expertise to combat other infectious diseases—from developing metrics to monitor the regional response to Avian Influenza in Southeast Asia, to coordinating resources for infection prevention during the Ebola outbreak in Central Africa, and overseeing Covid-19 vaccination campaigns in my hometown. I’ve had the privilege of working closely with governments, multilateral organizations, and non-profits on policy development, program design, and evaluation systems. Leading large, multidisciplinary teams and engaging with diverse stakeholders to achieve common goals has been a key part of my journey. In addition to my fieldwork, I’m passionate about teaching and communicating science and public health and take pride in breaking down complex ideas into clear and accessible messages.
