ABOUT ERIN CAFARO
I’m a clinical psychologist passionate about the intersection of life transitions, aging, and brain health. Currently, I’m a postdoctoral fellow at UCLA’s Semel Institute, specializing in neurodegenerative conditions, brain injuries, and cognitive rehabilitation. My work focuses on supporting individuals and families through significant life transitions — including career retirement, aging-related changes, and adjustment to brain injuries and diseases. I’m increasingly interested in how different cultures and communities approach aging, caregiving, and end-of-life experiences. My experiences as an Olympic athlete, coach, and former caregiver continue to shape my approach to this work. I’m actively developing research and speaking initiatives focused on the physical, emotional, and cognitive health of retired Olympic athletes.
