   Patient and Family Centered Care at Brown University Health | Hasbro Children’s HospitalEstablished in 2010, the Patient and Family Centered Care (PFCC) program at Hasbro Children’s Hospital was created to enhance the patient and family experience through meaningful programming and partnerships. PFCC is a collaborative approach to the planning, delivery, and evaluation of healthcare, rooted in mutually beneficial relationships among healthcare providers, patients, and families.This model redefines traditional healthcare dynamics by emphasizing collaboration across all ages, levels of care, and healthcare settings. Patients and families are empowered to define their own support systems and actively participate in care and decision-making. The overarching goal is to promote health, well-being, and autonomy while ensuring that care is compassionate, respectful, and aligned with individual values and needs.Family Advocates – Supporting families throughout the care journey.Family Spaces – Dedicated environments designed for comfort and connection.Comfort Carts – Providing small comforts to patients and families at the bedside.Family Assistance Fund – Financial support for families in need during hospitalization.Get Well Network – Interactive patient engagement technology.Bereavement Programs & Grief Support Groups – Compassionate support for those experiencing loss.Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) – A forum for patients and families to share input and shape hospital policies and practices.The Adolescent Leadership Council (TALC) – Youth leadership program for teens with chronic medical conditions.Hasbro Children’s Patient Experience Council – Co-chaired to foster continuous improvements in patient-centered care.
