About Erin Shirhall

I’m a double major in Psychology and Communication with minors in English, Linguistics, and Cognitive Science, driven by a strong interest in how people think, process, and express language. I’m especially passionate about speech-language pathology and hope to work in a hospital setting with stroke patients, helping them build confidence and effectively express themselves.My academic background allows me to approach communication from multiple perspectives, understanding not only how messages are delivered, but also how they are cognitively processed and socially shaped. Through my studies, I’ve explored areas such as language development, interpersonal communication, and the psychological factors that influence behavior and self-perception.I’m currently focused on developing the skills essential for a career in speech therapy, including active listening, empathy, and research-based communication strategies. I’m particularly interested in the intersection of language, cognition, and development, and how early intervention can positively impact a child’s growth and quality of life.I’m always looking to connect with others in speech-language pathology, psychology, and communication sciences to learn, collaborate, and expand my perspective.
