ABOUT ERIN RENNIE
Erin Rennie is a senior planner at the City of Burnaby where she leads the Official Community Plan team. As Project Manager for Burnaby 2050, she coordinates the policy development and public engagement efforts that contribute to the creation of Burnaby\'s new OCP. Erin holds a Master’s degree in Community and Regional Planning from UBC with a specialization in Ecological and Natural Resource Planning. From 20••••23 she worked as a Senior Planner with the Regional Planning and Housing Services team at Metro Vancouver Regional District. In addition to holding the policy portfolios for Social Equity and Social Planning, Health and the Built Environment, and Urban Centres, she was the Project Manager for Metro 2050, the update to the regional growth strategy which was adopted in February 2023. Erin has worked in regional transportation planning since 2014 for organizations including TransLink and King County Metro. Prior to becoming a planner, Erin worked on policy analysis projects for organizations including BC Hydro, the Vancouver Police Department, and the BC Office to Combat Trafficking in Persons. She has also worked as a political aide, supporting MLAs and Cabinet Ministers in their legislative functions, assisting them with speech writing, debate preparation, and policy research, including service as Constituency Assistant to MLA Naomi Yamamoto, former Provincial Minister of Advanced Education. Erin Rennie graduated with an Honours Degree in Political Science from the University of British Columbia in 2008. She graduated from UBC\'s School of Community and Regional Planning with a Masters of Arts in Planning in 2015. Her graduate research focused on exploring the legislative barriers to developing natural burial cemeteries in BC municipalities. Erin volunteers regularly in the community. She served as the Secretary of the Canadian Women Voters Congress a non-partisan organization that empowers women to participate in the electoral process. She also volunteers as a Pathfinder Leader with the Girl Guides of Canada, a youth leadership development organization.
