ABOUT ERIN MCAULIFFE
Erin is driven to solve complex problems and to embrace the tension and ambiguity at the heart of design: how to design for the individual, for our organisations and for a better future. Her purpose is to empower people and organisations to design compelling ‘and’ propositions that benefit not only us but also those around us – and those who will follow. Highly strategic, Erin has a deep understanding of driving transformation in complex environments and organisations. Throughout her 17 years of work in the public sector across three countries, Erin has worked to design strategies, services and products to improve the experience, effectiveness and efficiency of trade and customs, taxation, security and law enforcement, transport, justice, industry, environment, health and disability, social services and communications. A highly flexible designer, Erin has applied design to inform and create powerful policies, programs, regulations, strategies, services, systems and organisations. Erin has helped organisations in Singapore build deep understanding and empathy for the people and businesses they seek to serve. She most enjoys connecting with senior leaders to share these stories and reframe challenges to opportunities for powerful innovation. She has worked with organisations starting on their innovation journeys to not only deliver outstanding projects but also bring about mindset shifts in the back room and the boardroom. Erin’s background is in the humanities and public policy, complemented by postgraduate studies in design at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Erin is a design strategist with Innovation By Design, an initiative of the DesignSingapore Council and the Economic Development Board, and is an Associate Trainer at Singapore’s Civil Service College.
