ABOUT ERIN GARZA

I am an Assistant Professor at the J. Craig Venter Institute. My research focuses on studying the microbiome of deep-sea plastics, evaluating the impact of plastic pollution on marine environments, and determining the effects of plastic additives on environmental and human health. I look for plastic degrading organisms in extreme environments so that we can utilize them/ their genes to improve our recycling capabilities.
