The Department of Service and Civic Innovation was established in April of 2023 to lead service andvolunteering efforts across the state of Maryland. The primary responsibility is to establish two new programs to serve in Maryland.Lead the design and implementation of Maryland Governor Wes Moore\'s Service Year Option program, a new service program that places young adults in service placements across the state of Maryland.Established the Service Year Option program from bill passage to 275 members serving Maryland inless six months. Doubled the number of program participants in Year 2 to more than 500. The Service Year Option has proven to be one of the largest registered apprenticeship programsestablished in the US in 20••••24. More than 80% of Service Year Option Members were concurrentlyenrolled in a registered apprenticeship with the US Department of Labor.Developed proof points that service can and should be a pathway to employment and education, andaccessible to everyone. Measure member sentiment frequently to adjust program according to needs.Designed system of support to help members navigate opportunities and challenges during theirservice year, through bi-weekly success coaching.Co-lead the design and implementation of monthly in-person professional development offered threetimes monthly – topics include financial management, job readiness and social supports.Interface with more than 200 Host Site Partners across the state implementing the Service Year Option.Concurrently administer a philanthropic grant to establish Maryland Climate Corps, a 40-person service program that launched in Fall of 2024.

I am a seasoned, dynamic, and creative executive leader with a heart for public service, a talent for leading people, and an ability to strategically manage financial and operational goals that will lead organizations to success.After a long federal career with AmeriCorps and USDA\'s Food and Nutrition Service, I transitioned to a new role with Maryland State Government, in Governor Wes Moore\'s Administration in the Department of Service and Civic Innovation. During my career, I have established a reputation as an approachable, creative thinker able to envision the future and establish successful partnerships and programs. During my AmeriCorps tenure, I contributed to multiple large scale change efforts including being a key contributor to the total reorganization of the agency’s workforce and a pivot to virtual environments during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.I am goal oriented, high energy, and have the pragmatism it takes to see large, long, and complex projects through to the end. I bring this strength and stamina to my personal life as well - I’ve run 45 marathons and am on a quest to run a marathon in all 50 states!My commitment to service also extends to my own community. I hold several volunteer leadership positions including Troop Leader for a local Girl Scouts Cadette group and served for many years as the Chair of the Budget Advisory Committee for the Alexandria City School Board, as well as a Volunteer Judge and Regional Coordinator with USA Climbing.
