About Erik W. Svitek
Graduate of Chapman University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and minors in Political Science and Peace Studies. My global background, having lived in Ukraine, Brazil, and my birthplace of Prague, has shaped my deep passion for geopolitics, international relations, and conflict resolution.I am currently serving as a Clerk at BGR Group, where I support the team with research and policy analysis, draft memos and briefs, and contribute to a wide range of public affairs and government relations projects. This role offers me the opportunity to learn from a leading firm and deepen my experience at the intersection of policy, advocacy, and international affairs.Previously, I had the honor to intern in the office of Congressman French Hill in the U.S. House of Representatives, where I gained firsthand experience in legislative affairs, policy research, and constituent engagement. This opportunity built upon my academic and professional experiences analyzing international political dynamics and their real-world implications. My research paper, “The Wagner Group and the Refugee Crisis: Analysis of the Private Military Company’s Involvement in Africa and its Effects on Europe,” reflects my ability to analyze complex geopolitical issues and their broader consequences. As a student researcher for Chapman University’s Peace Studies Department, I also contributed to a legal database project on the Ukraine-Russia war, helping establish a framework for prosecuting war crimes. In addition, I’ve engaged in grassroots politics, canvassing for local initiatives and mayoral candidates in California. These experiences strengthened my skills in research, communication, and policy analysis. I remain committed to fostering diplomatic solutions, promoting global stability, and contributing to meaningful policy discussions in international affairs and conflict resolution.
