About Erik Olson
I build systems that detect and stop spam, fraud, and abuse across real-world communication channels. My work sits at the intersection of telecom infrastructure, AI/ML, and product development. I focus on turning raw signals such as audio streams, messaging behavior, and network activity into real-time decisions that protect users without breaking the communication experience. At RealNetworks, I led development of AI-driven fraud prevention platforms across messaging and voice, reducing A2P spam by 93% and P2P scams by 84%. These systems combined NLP, classification models, and network-level analysis to identify malicious activity at scale. Previously, I led US messaging products at Infobip, including the migration of over 6 billion messages per month and the launch of 10DLC compliance APIs that enabled near-instant customer onboarding. Across roles, I’ve worked deeply in SMS, MMS, voice/SIP, compliance, and carrier ecosystems—bridging product, engineering, and business teams to bring complex systems into production. Currently focused on advancing AI-driven call protection, synthetic voice detection, and programmable telecom platforms.
