ABOUT ERIK CIRAVEGNA

Communication designer, academic and consultant by profession, teacher and trainer by vocation. Curious by nature, attracted by all forms of artistic and creative expression. Concerned about the ethical implications of Design and all projectual activities. Convinced that there can be no innovation without generating a positive impact on people, society or the environment. Professionally and academically, I have two main fields of interests. On the one hand, I work on Packaging Design topics, focusing on product and brand identity systems, project narrative and rhetoric, communication accessibility, with concern for design ethics. On the other hand, I work in the Design Methodology area, focusing on the systematization of toolkits for the support of project development, in both didactic and professional activities. Within these two areas, two projects have been developed, with both a theoretical deepening and practical experimentation, in teaching and research contexts- The Good Packaging©: a laboratory and an observatory on the ethical implications of packaging design, and its responsibilities and impacts on people, society and the environment. The aim is to promote an ethical innovation of packaging, as an object of use and a means of communication, with the potential of a mass-medium, orienting people\'s behaviours- DesignDrama©: a methodology to foster creativity and the integral formation of people, in training and projectual contexts. It is based on the synergistic combination of the theories, tools and strategies of design and communication, with the theatrical techniques of dramatization, the resources of playful didactics, and the artistic expression. Along the years, I have participated in several projects, funded by corporations and enterprises, associations and consortia, and institutions. I have been invited to give lectures, conferences and masterclasses. I have authored and co-authored scientific and dissemination publications. I have been a member of juries and committees, in public and private competitions, and for the attribution of funds and scholarships. I have been in charge of the organization and coordination of scientific seminars and exhibitions. I have been advisor and co-advisor of bachelor’s degree projects and master’s degree thesis. Finally, from an artistic point of view, I produce visual art pieces (collages), I collaborate in other artists projects, and I have a passion for the staging of theatre projects. I also participated in acting and singing masterclasses.
