About Erika Rice Scherpelz
The first thing you\'ll notice if you are in a video call with me is that I’m a fan of board games as attested by a whole wall in my office devoted to games. Beyond that, my interests are complexity and systems, especially how these things intersect with human systems—individuals, teams, organizations, and societies. I enjoy building bridges between people and teams. In hiring talent, I seek intellectually curious people who love to solve real-world problems. They have expertise in an area, show they can learn and are excellent communicators. On the diversity front, I look for people from different perspectives and backgrounds to bring a well-rounded point of view.As a systems thinker, I synthesize solutions and make connections people do not see. I’m a member of FLUX, a group dedicated to helping make systems thinking accessible to a broader audience. Since 2020, I have been one of the primary authors and editors of the newsletter, which has 1500+ subscribers. One of my proud achievements was serving as both a manager and technical lead for a 5-year large-scale Google data migration project where we moved over 10 billion customer records.
