Elected public official entrusted with governing a community\'s public schools. The role of the school board is to ensure that school districts are responsive to the values, beliefs and priorities of their communities. As one part of the seven board member, establishing the mission and direction of the district is achieved through good policy work. With deep roots in my community I provide vital link between community and school. Duties include the following-Public policy development and advocacy -Reviewing, deliberating and adopting the school district budget-Listening to public concerns and testimony -Engaging in public speaking and facilitation as past Board Chair for the Hillsboro School District-Actively engaged in union negotiations and bargaining -Participated in strategic planning and engagement with stakeholders-Participates in conducting performance evaluations for School Superintendent and the OSBA Executive Director-Member of auditing (Hillsboro School District) and OSBA financial compliance committee -Engages in lobbying and advocacy for both the school district and OSBA
