ABOUT ERIKA GUZMAN MENDOZA

As a first-generation Latina, my journey has been shaped by a deep awareness that access to opportunity is not evenly distributed, along with a responsibility to help create clearer paths for those who come after me especially my younger sisters and future generations who deserve to see themselves represented in positions of leadership and decision-making.I am driven by environments that demand accountability, precision, and leadership with integrity. Through founding and leading student organizations, managing operations, mentoring first-generation students, and gaining hands-on legal experience, I have learned how systems function and how they fail. That understanding fuels my determination not just to succeed within these systems, but to help reform them so justice, fairness, and opportunity are not privileges, but expectations.I am currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business while preparing for law school. My long-term goal is to earn a JD/MBA and operate at the intersection of business and law, using legal advocacy and strategic insight to expand access, protect communities, and hold institutions accountable. At the core of my work is a belief that leadership is responsibility the responsibility to speak when others are unheard, to act when systems fall short, and to build pathways where none previously existed. Whether through legal service, organizational leadership, or community advocacy, I am committed to using my voice and skills to pursue justice, inspire those who come after me, and contribute to change that is tangible, lasting, and rooted in purpose.
