ABOUT ERIK SHAFER
I bring more than 20 years of hands-on experience designing, building, and integrating robotic systems across manufacturing environments. My career began in the late 1990s with a robotic welding integrator, where I was deeply involved in weld cell design, fixture development, and production-driven problem solving while completing my BSMET degree. That hands-on foundation shaped how I approach robotics to this day. Over the years, I’ve held nearly every role within a robotics integration business. I started, owned and operated Industrial Robotix, a robotic systems integration company for over two decades, and patented a product that is still being produced today servicing fleets of robots across all industries including major automotive. That experience gave me a practical understanding of engineered-to-order systems, project execution, and the operational realities manufacturers face when deploying robotics. Today, I lead Premier Automation’s Robotics team, applying a practical, production-focused mindset to robotic system design. My focus is on building solutions that are robust, maintainable, and aligned with how facilities actually operate—balancing innovation with long-term reliability and support.
