ABOUT ERIK HAHN

Erik Hahn, Prof. Dr. iur. habil, Dr. rer. medic, is a Full Professor of Health Law and Social (Security and Welfare) Law at the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz, Faculty of Social Sciences. He is also a co-opted Professor at the Faculty of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (Institute for International Law, Intellectual Property, and Technology Law) and the Faculty of Medicine „Carl Gustav Carus“ at Dresden University of Technology.He currently serves as a Long-Term Visiting Professor at Riga Stradins University and is a Member of the European Institute of Social Security in Leuven. Presently, he is a Visiting Scholar and a Affiliated Researcher at the Faculty of Law, University of Cambridge. His previous academic engagements include, among others, a Full Professorship at the Northern German University of Applied Sciences for Legal Studies, as well as several Visiting Professorships and Scholarships at Harvard Law School, Roma Tre University, and the International Hellenic University. Before (and partly alongside) his academic career, he held positions as a Public Prosecutor in Leipzig, as a Judge at the Social Court of Dresden, and as a Judge at the Saxon Higher Social Court (Court of Appeal).His research focuses on German and European Social Security and Health Law. To date, he has authored more than 180 publications, including books, journal articles, book chapters, and edited volumes, and regularly presents at national and international conferences. His work frequently addresses the intersection of Law, Health, Social Policy, and Digitalization, particularly with regard to Fundamental Rights, Welfare State Structures, and Cross-Border Coordination.He is a member of various academic associations and serves as a reviewer for scientific journals. He also provides policy consulting services to ministries and health and welfare organisations. Beyond his academic roles, he is committed to Interdisciplinary Collaboration, linking Legal Scholarship with Medicine, Health Sciences, Technology, Social Work, and Public Administration.
